PG BATTLE 2019

PG BATTLE is an inter-company / inter-school programming contest with 3 members of 1 team. The contest is not a way of submitting works and judged, but the one which four programs are written in 90 minutes for solving questions and submitted online.

Last year, 780 people from 260 teams participated in a super-hot battle. We will expand the scale this year and hold it on September 28th. The sponsor system has also been expanded and the prize money has been doubled, and the sponsor name award (secret award related with specific ranks) has also been established, so it is exciting to get the prize even if you are not ranked high.

In addition, last year the contest had two sections of Company and School. However, because the university was overwhelmingly strong among schools, university and vocational school will be separated into a new section. So, we have 3 sections this year. Entry will start from July 1st, so please join us.

There are many high skilled and hardworking people in the business of programming. But in general, the reputation for programming job has been low and there was not much respect for programmers.

Through this event, we will find and show various levels of programming technology to the world. As a result, high-skilled programmers should be much more respected, and we also suggest reform of sense of low-quality or fake programmers.

In general, there are competitions between companies and schools in various activities such as futsal, golf, chess and music. However, regarding programming, there has been little competition so far, and there has been no opportunity for the programmers to be praised.

There are many programmers who have high skills with their efforts even though they are not noticeable. When such people gather together and participate in team battle, a new battlefield is created, which motivate programmers to improve their skills more than now.

Until now, there was little way to measure programming skills, so we couldn't objectively figure out what level we are. Since "PG Battle" allows programmers to easily participate, it is an opportunity to know their abilities by relative ranking and get motivation to improve their skills.
It is nice to be stimulated to see solution of difficult questions that we couldn’t solved after the contest.

Contents of contest	Write and submit programs for four-questions in 90 minutes, with using the programming service "TOPSIC". Please refer to here for TOPSIC. (You do not need to buy TOPSIC license).
Application guidelines	One team is composed of 3 people. Multiple teams can participate from one company or school. But one person cannot belong to multiple teams. The battle results (rank, team name, points, time) will be published for all teams this year. If you don't like to be identified by others, be careful of setting the team name. Expecting a cool team name!!
Battle section	Participants will compete in each of following three sections. ①High school, Junior high school, Elementary school ②University, Graduate school, Vocational school ③Company
Rank	Compete with total score of 3 people (full score of 300). If the score is the same, the shorter answer time will be the top. Since each person will also be notified their position, it is also possible to understand individual ability.
Language	You can take the exam in either Japanese or English. Remote participation from overseas is also possible (There were participants from various countries last year).
Programming language	It supports mainstream programming languages such as Java, C #, Ruby, Python, PHP, etc. You can take the exam in your best language. Click here for available languages.

【Participation qualification】

Everyone is welcome, but it is not a personal entry but a team.

【Number of participants】
One team should be consisting of three people.
Multiple teams can participate from one company or one school.
However, we do not allow one participant to belong to more than one team.

【Ranking / Winning】
Instead of tackling a question as a team, 3members try 3 different levels of a series of questions. Finally, all the teams compete for the team's total points.
Each team's total score (100 points each person, total of 300 points) is the team's score.
The questions are three levels of "Marshmallow", "Senbei" and "Katsuobushi" and you will challenge the level you applied at the time of entry.
If the total points are the same, the one with the smaller total answer time is considered the top.
The results will be sent to our website and the representative who applied.

【About the difficulty】
The team game is composed of three levels, "Marshmallow", "Senbei" and "Katsuobushi", and the level of difficulty increases as you move from "Marshmallow", "Senbei", "Katsuobushi".

【Notes】
The time limit is 90 minutes for 4 questions. Once you start the main battle, you cannot stop the timer on the way.
It is recommended that you read through "How to use" and make yourself familiar with the system by solving the exercise before you challenge the PG battle.
If the processing time exceeds the specified value, it will be incorrect, so be careful not to waste time.

※ We will exclude from the result when cheating is found.

【Publication of the question】
The questions of PG BATTLE 2019 are publicly available. We would be glad if you show a model answer for each participant and comment on each other.

【Consultation】
Although it is a team game, advises between participants are prohibited because it is a serious individual challenge. For that purpose, the questions are divided into "Marshmallow", "Senbei" and "Katsuobushi"., and even in a group game of chess, advice is prohibited. Let's play seriously with the contest!!

Terms

"Inter-company / Inter-school programming battle" (hereinafter called "the event") terms (hereinafter called "the terms") define relationship between Individuals belonging to System Integrator Corp. (hereinafter called "we"), companies and schools which applied with the event (hereinafter collectively referred to as "applicant") and us.

1. This event can be applied by a team consisting of members from companies or schools. (Please note that it cannot be applied individually.)
2. One company or school can apply for multiple teams. However, one applicant cannot belong to more than one team.
3. The copyright of the source code submitted through this event belongs to the applicant. Applicants shall be granted the right to use or release those submissions to us for raising value of the event.
4. As a disclaimer below
(1) We shall not be liable for any troubles that arise between the applicant and the third party at this event.
(2) We will not be liable for any delay, change, cancellation, loss of information etc. provided through this event or any other damage caused in connection with this event.
5. Information about the applicant, such as company name or school name, contact person's name, e-mail address, etc., are used for contact related to this event and other use based on privacy policy defined by our company (https://www.sint.co.jp/privacy.html). The applicants and the person in charge of the applicants are regarded to agree to the contents according to the terms and conditions.
(1) The personal information provided will only be used for operations related to the operation of this event (series of operations such as preparation, implementation, result aggregation and analysis) by us and co-sponsored company.
(2) We will not provide the personal information provided to third parties.
(3) We will not outsource the handling of personal information provided.
(4) Requests for disclosure of personal information can be made at the [Personal Information Consultation Center] at the request of the applicant. In that case, identity verification etc. will be performed by the method prescribed by our company. ※ The team name and ranking will be published in the battle result list.

STEP2 Entry confirmation
Only the representative will be notified of the e-mail address for entry acceptance.

We use programming skill judgment service "TOPSIC" for contest. If you want to get used to in advance, please use the trial.

STEP4 Confirmation before contest

Please make sure that each member can login to the URL provided in the detail notification.
Please check how to use TOPSIC in the tutorial and exercise and learn how to operate.

STEP 5 Contest
Access the URL that was notified in the detail notification and login with the registered user ID and password. It will be the start of the test.
